One tablet, one Deep Clean, one rinse. About an hour, once a month.
Descaling is identical on both machines.
How often. Monthly as standard. Every 2 weeks with hard water, or as soon as white spots appear on bottles.
The protocol.
- Empty your machine. No bottles, nothing on the rack.
- Fill the water tank.
- Drop one nuviebaby descaling tablet into the water tank and let it dissolve fully.
- Run Deep Clean.
- Fill the water tank a second time, with no tablet, just water.
- Run a plain-water Quick Wash to rinse the descaler out.
If 1 tablet is not enough for your water, use 2 tablets fully dissolved for the Deep Clean step, then rinse with a plain-water Quick Wash as usual.
In cases of very hard water, run 2 tablets for the Deep Clean, then a second Deep Clean with 2 more tablets, then the plain-water Quick Wash rinse. Every machine descales at a different cadence the first time, since every home's water is different.
Only use nuviebaby Universal Descaling Tablets. Other descaling tablets may contain harsh chemicals that are not baby safe and can damage your machine.
If you have reverse osmosis or distilled water, you do not need to descale at all. We recommend switching to distilled or reverse osmosis water to avoid most machine maintenance. Ordinary jug and carbon filters do not remove the dissolved minerals that cause limescale, so they will not have the same effect. The descaling tablets still make the job an easy one either way.
